Founded in the Eastern Cape, DEFT Studios is a small, designer-maker studio focused on contemporary, handmade furniture. Founded by Martin + Zani in 2020, after graduating from university together. The duo completed their architectural studies which paved the way for the exploration of product design. DEFT doesn't do fast furniture. They advocate the slow crafting processes that ensure that furniture pieces endure a lifetime. Furniture is personally crafted by the founders who remain hands-on in production as a means of dedication to their design and craft.
